What actually happens when you copy a trader?
Copy trading connects part of your account to another trader’s activity. Depending on the platform, new trades may be copied automatically and sized according to your allocation. That convenience does not transfer responsibility for the money you risk.
Your results may differ
The trader may enter at a different price, use different leverage, or hold trades you cannot access. Fees, execution delays and allocation settings can change your outcome. Read the platform’s rules before connecting an account.
Look beyond the return
Ask how much the account fell during its worst period, how long the record covers, and whether most results came from a few concentrated positions. A strong historical return is not a forecast.
Make a plan before copying
Write down the maximum amount you would expose, the loss at which you would pause, and how often you would review. Practise on a demo account and record what happens. Demo results do not guarantee real-money performance.
